The original effort made by a collection of Ethiopians from acedemia and the professional world, in conjuction with Joseph Becker of Unicode/ISO, came to an end in August of 1993 with the publication of a final draft proposal. We have picked up where the Committee for Standardization of Ethiopian Script (CSES) left off in 1993 and have revised the draft proposal following the recommendations of Mr. Becker and committee members at that time. We have now reached a point with the new version of the draft proposal that we feel is very near its ultimate form. We wish now to invite a representative from the Unicode organization to review and make recommendation on our proposal at this time just prior to its completion. The html form of the new proposal may be found at: http://www.cs.indiana.edu/hyplan/dmulholl/utc/proposal/ Please inform us when a representative has had an oppurtunity to review the draft proposal. We would very much like to hear his/her comments on the direction the document is taking as well as pose our own questions to the reviewer on our course of actions. Very Truly, -Daniel Yaqob PS: On-line Internet resources for Ethiopic script are available at: http://www.cs.indiana.edu/hyplan/dmulholl/fidel/fidel.html
